Berling, operated field in Norway.

Berling, our first operated field in Norway.

OMV Norge AS is currently developing Berling, our first operated field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. This milestone project reflects our growing role in Norway and supports OMV’s strategy to increase the share of natural gas in our portfolio to over 60% by 2030.

Berling

Strategic importance

Berling is a key part of OMV’s transformation strategy. Located approximately 235 km from Kristiansund in a mature oil and gas province, the field benefits from proximity to existing infrastructure. The Åsgard B platform will serve as the host, with condensate exported via shuttle tankers and gas piped to Kårstø.

The development involves a 4-slot subsea production template connected via a 24-kilometer highly insulated and corrosion-resistant pipeline and steel tube umbilical. This infrastructure enables remote control of the wells from Åsgard B and ensures efficient and safe operations.

Berling strengthens OMV’s position as a reliable gas supplier to Europe and contributes to energy security and the transition to a more sustainable energy landscape.

Looking ahead

Berling is progressing as planned, with a focus on topside modifications required for the tie-in at Åsgard B. Construction work is being carried out in phases to ensure readiness for first gas and condensate production in early 2029. With the subsea template, manifold, pipeline, and umbilical already installed, the project is well-positioned for drilling in 2026/2027.

Berling is more than a development project – it’s a symbol of OMV’s commitment to responsible growth, innovation, and partnership in Norway. It continues to deliver high-quality results safely and efficiently.
