About OMV Norge AS

Exploring energy with purpose – in Norway since 2006
OMV Norge AS is the Norwegian subsidiary of OMV Energy, contributing to the responsible development of energy resources on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). Since our first license award in 2007, we have grown into a diverse and experienced team of around 140 professionals from 22 nationalities, based in Stavanger – Norway’s energy capital.
Our activities
OMV holds several exploration licenses in the North Sea, Norwegian Sea, and Barents Sea – with approximately half operated by OMV Norge AS. We are a partner in four producing fields and are proud to be developing Berling, our first operated field in Norway. We also participate in two carbon capture and storage (CCS) licenses awarded in 2023 and 2024, and continue to seek new opportunities through licensing rounds and business development.
We are engaged across the full upstream value chain:
- Exploration
- Development
- Production
- Involvement in low-carbon initiatives
Norway’s strategic role
Norway plays a key role in OMV’s strategy to strengthen energy security and diversify Europe’s energy supply. As one of the world’s largest oil and gas exporters, Norway offers a stable political and economic environment, significant remaining resource potential, and access to Central and Western European gas markets.
OMV Norge AS contributes directly to the Group’s ambition to expand its gas portfolio and reduce reliance on single suppliers. Gas is central to OMV’s strategy as a transitional fuel, with plans to increase its share to over 60% of the production portfolio by 2030. Our activities in Norway support this goal and reinforce OMV’s position as a trusted and reliable energy partner for Europe.
A responsible energy partner
We operate in line with Norway’s high safety and environmental standards, which serve as a benchmark across OMV’s global operations. Our team of local and international experts is committed to safe, efficient, and responsible energy development, supporting the transition to a more sustainable and diversified energy system.
