Berling

The Berling field development (formerly known as the Iris Hades discoveries) is located on Haltenbanken in the Norwegian Sea in PL 644, PL 644 B and PL 644 C. The discoveries are close to the Morvin field and other Equinor operated infrastructure such as the Åsgard and Kristin fields.

The first exploration well was drilled in 2018 and proved gas and condensate. The Iris appraisal well was drilled in 2019 and the Hades reservoir was appraised in 2020. The appraisal wells confirmed presence of hydrocarbons in both reservoirs.  

OMV submitted the Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) for the Berling field development in December 2022. The development concept is a subsea production facility with tie-back to the Åsgard B platform. The plan was approved by the Norwegian authorities in June 2023. Production start-up is estimated in 2027/28.

OMV (Norge) AS is the operator for PL 644/B/C with 30% working interest. The other licensees are Equinor (40%) and DNO Norge (30%).
