Application for Award of CO2 Storage Area
OMV (Norge) AS has applied for award of acreage for storage of CO2 on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
As announced by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, OMV (Norge) AS is one of six companies which have applied for award of a license area.
The application to the Norwegian authorities for CO2 storage represents a first milestone for OMV to evaluate and mature storage resources in the Southern North Sea offshore Norway.
The OMV Group has a strategic target to store 5 million tons of CO2 per year by 2030, and has set up a dedicated Low Carbon Business unit in the OMV Energy division.
